Chopscape LLC
Terms & Conditions
Last updated 4 September 2026 · Effective 4 September 2026 · Version 1.6
The five that catch people out: everyone signs a waiver, minimum age is 13, closed-toe, closed-heel shoes are required with no exceptions, Chopscape is an alcohol-free venue, and we cannot let you throw if you appear impaired.
These terms govern bookings and participation at Chopscape LLC, 1906 Oceanside Blvd, Ste UV, Oceanside, California 92054 (“Chopscape”, “we”, “us”). By booking, entering the venue, or taking part you accept them. Chopscape LLC is a separate and independent legal entity from Jardine Entertainment LLC (d/b/a RageScape), which operates other attractions at the same street address; these terms cover Chopscape activities only.
1. Booking and payment
- Bookings are made through our booking page and are paid in full at the time of booking.
- Current prices for axe throwing, line dance and combo sessions are shown when you book, and repeated in your confirmation email.
- One lane holds up to 4 throwers for 60 minutes. Larger groups book additional lanes.
- Prices include a mandatory safety briefing and a scoring guide. The price shown when you book is the price you pay.
- Your booking is for a specific lane and time. We cannot guarantee a particular lane.
2. Changes, cancellations and no-shows
All sales are final. Bookings are non-refundable once payment has been processed. The full terms are set out in our No Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
- Rescheduling: you may move your session up to 2 hours before your reserved start time, online or by contacting us, subject to availability.
- If you cannot attend: contact us before your start time and we will issue a gift voucher for the full amount you paid. The voucher does not expire. It is offered instead of a refund, not in addition to one.
- Late arrival: your lane is held for 15 minutes past your start time. Sessions cannot be extended to make up lost time, because the lane is booked after you.
- No-show: if you do not arrive and do not contact us, the payment and the booking are both forfeited. No refund and no voucher is issued.
- If we cancel — equipment, staffing, weather, power — you choose a full refund or a free reschedule.
- Group bookings of three or more lanes require 48 hours’ notice to reschedule, because they take out most of the venue.
3. Age requirements
- Minimum age to throw is 13.
- Anyone under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present in the venue for the whole session, who signs the waiver on their behalf and supervises them.
- Anyone 18 or over signs their own waiver and cannot be listed as a minor on someone else’s.
- We may ask for photo ID to confirm age, and may refuse participation if we cannot verify it.
- Children under 13 may not enter the throwing lanes at any time, including as spectators.
4. Waivers
Every participant, and anyone entering the throwing lanes, must sign our liability waiver before taking part. Sign in advance at chopscape.com/waiver or at the front desk on arrival; it takes about two minutes. No waiver, no throwing. If you decline to sign on arrival, the session is not refunded.
5. Safety rules
- Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes are required. No exceptions. Open-toe or open-heel footwear means no lane access, and that includes Crocs, clogs, mules, heels, slippers, sandals and flip-flops. We cannot lend you a pair. Anyone who arrives without suitable footwear cannot throw. The session is not refunded, because the slot was held for you and cannot be resold in time, but staff will rebook you where the schedule allows.
- Follow staff instructions at all times. Our staff have final say on the lanes.
- One thrower in a lane at a time. Never cross into a lane, or retrieve an axe, until the lane is called clear.
- Throw only the axes we provide, only at the target, only from the throwing line.
- Tie back long hair. We recommend avoiding loose jewellery, scarves and long open sleeves.
- Spectators must remain behind the marked line and outside the lane enclosure.
- Report any damaged axe, board or fitting to staff immediately rather than continuing.
Failure to follow these rules may result in immediate removal from the venue without a refund.
Alcohol-free venue and impairment
- Chopscape is an alcohol-free venue. We do not serve alcohol, and alcohol may not be brought onto or consumed anywhere on the premises.
- We do not permit anyone to throw who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This is a safety rule applied at staff discretion, not a judgement.
- Guests who arrive impaired, or who bring alcohol onto the premises, may be refused entry or asked to leave.
- Food and drink never enter a live lane. Keep them on the tables provided.
- If you are turned away or stopped on this basis, the session is not refunded. Please plan accordingly.
Right to refuse or end a session
Staff and building management may refuse entry, refuse service, or end a session at any time if they believe someone may pose a risk to themselves, to other guests, to staff, or to the business. This includes intoxication, aggression, ignoring staff instructions, or misuse of equipment. No refund is given where a session is ended for conduct or safety reasons.
6. Groups, parties and private events
Group and private bookings may require a deposit and are subject to the 48-hour cancellation window in section 2. Terms specific to your event will be confirmed in writing at the time of booking, and those confirmed terms take precedence over this section where they differ. Every guest in a group still signs their own waiver.
7. Personal property and damage
Keep your belongings with you. We are not responsible for loss of, theft of, or damage to personal property brought to the venue. You are responsible for the cost of damage you cause to our equipment or premises beyond normal wear, including damage caused while ignoring safety instructions.
8. Photography and media
We may take photographs or video at the venue for our own promotion. The waiver includes a media release you may decline without affecting your ability to participate. If you decline and still appear in something we publish, tell us and we will remove it.
9. Assumption of risk and limitation of liability
Axe throwing is an inherently risky activity involving heavy bladed implements. The full assumption-of-risk and release language is in the waiver you sign, and that document governs the relationship between us.
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, Chopscape LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your visit, and our total liability for any claim connected to a booking will not exceed the amount you paid for that booking.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence, recklessness, wilful misconduct, fraud, or personal injury caused by our violation of law. California Civil Code § 1668 does not permit that, and we are not attempting it.
10. Gift cards and promotions
Gift cards and gift certificates that you buy from us do not expire and are not redeemable for cash, except that California law permits cash redemption of balances under $10.
Certificates we give away free — through a competition, a loyalty reward or a promotional giveaway, where you paid us nothing for them — may carry an expiry date. Where they do, the date is shown on the certificate and at the time you receive it.
Some promotional offers let you buy a certificate for less than the value it carries. Where an offer like that has an expiry date, that date applies only to the bonus value — the part above what you actually paid. The amount you paid does not expire and remains redeemable with us afterwards. California Civil Code § 1749.5 only permits expiry dates on certificates given away without payment, so we do not apply one to money you have handed over.
Promotional offers cannot be combined unless stated, have no cash value, and may be withdrawn at any time before purchase.
11. Memberships
The memberships we offer. We run more than one membership. What each one costs, how often it bills and what it includes are shown on that membership’s own page at the time you buy it, and repeated in the confirmation email we send you. Everything in this section applies to all of them.
Automatic renewal. Every membership is a subscription that renews automatically. We will charge the payment method you give us the price shown for the membership you bought, at the billing interval shown, and those charges continue until you cancel. There is no minimum term, no notice period and no cancellation fee. You will be asked to agree to these renewal terms before your first payment, and we will email you a confirmation that repeats the price, the interval and how to cancel.
How to cancel. You can cancel at any time, online, in about the same number of clicks it took to join. Use the manage your subscription link in any membership payment email, or your client account. You do not have to phone us, email us, or give a reason. Cancelling stops all future charges. You keep your benefits for the rest of the cycle you have already paid for, and nothing is charged after that.
Changes to price or benefits. If we change the price or what a membership includes, we will email you at least 30 days beforehand and tell you how to cancel. No change applies to a cycle you have already been charged for.
Credit and unlimited sessions. Where a membership includes booking credit, the credit resets at the start of every cycle, does not roll over, has no cash value and is not refundable. Where a membership includes unlimited sessions instead, unlimited means one session per person per day, subject to lane availability when you book. We do not hold lanes back for members and we cannot guarantee that a particular time will be free.
Member benefits generally. Benefits are personal to you. They cannot be transferred, shared or used by anyone else, have no cash value, and end when your membership ends. Guests you bring pay the guest rate shown for your membership at the time of booking. Member discount codes are for your own use; we may withdraw or replace a code at any time, and we may decline a discount where a code has clearly been passed around.
After-hours access. Where a membership includes access to RageScape between 7pm and 10pm on Tuesdays, that access depends on staff availability and capacity and is arranged with staff rather than booked online. RageScape is operated by a separate company and its own terms apply while you are there.
Birthday benefit. Some memberships include a benefit once a year around your birthday. Where they do, we issue it as a voucher to the email address on your account ahead of the date, and the voucher carries an expiry date shown on the voucher itself and in the email that delivers it. It is only issued while your membership is active, is not transferable, has no cash value, and is not replaced if it expires unused. We work out the date from the date of birth already verified on your waiver — our privacy policy explains exactly what we store and how to ask us to stop.
Places are limited. We cap the number of memberships so that lanes and dance nights do not become overcrowded, and we may close new sign-ups at any time. Closing sign-ups never affects people who are already members.
The rest of these terms still apply. Membership does not change the booking, waiver, age, footwear or safety requirements set out above. Sessions and dance nights depend on venue, lane and instructor availability; if we cancel a dance night, any dance credit stays available for another Tuesday in the same cycle.
12. Website
Content on this site belongs to Chopscape LLC and may not be reproduced commercially without permission. We aim to keep hours, prices and availability accurate, but the booking system is the authority on what is actually available. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
13. Resolving problems
If something goes wrong, please contact us first at info@chopscape.com. Most issues are resolved quickly and directly, and we would rather hear about it than not.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and both parties consent to that jurisdiction. Nothing here prevents either party from bringing a claim in small claims court.
14. General
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a term on one occasion, that does not waive our right to enforce it later.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for failure to perform due to events beyond our reasonable control, including fire, flood, power failure, public-health orders or government action. In those cases you may reschedule or receive a refund.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your booking to a third party for resale.
- Entire agreement. These terms, together with the signed waiver and any written terms confirmed for a group event, form the whole agreement between us.
15. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here at the time you book, identified by the version number at the top of this page.
